I keep Mondays mostly1 open for 30-minute chats with anyone who wants to talk. No agenda required. No prior introduction necessary. Just book a slot and show up.
I got the idea from Matt Webb’s unoffice hours. He calls it “manufactured serendipity,” which is the best description I have heard. Before the pandemic, these would have been random coffee chats. Now they are video calls, which means they are not limited to whoever happens to be in the same city. I am trying it out because the conversations I value most are the ones I could not have planned.
Some things people might book these for: thinking through a technical or career decision, getting a second opinion on a product idea, exploring ways we could work together, or just having a conversation with someone outside your usual circle. But really, anything goes.
You can book 30 minutes in my calendar here.
In theory, every Monday. In practice, entropy.
